David Stoddart is a writer and director from Scotland, whose early achievements established him as a standout in British cinema. After studying at the Arts Institute of Bournemouth, where he was named one of the inaugural Trailblazers—recognizing emerging British film talent—David's graduation film, Waiting for Exit Music, premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and New York’s Tribeca Film Festival. His short Rock Bottom Riser won an award at the LA Expo Film Festival. Later, his master’s project, Solstice, set in the Scottish Highlands, premiered at the Palm Springs International ShortFest and won Best Short Film at the Hamptons International Film Festival, alongside nominations for a BAFTA New Talent Award and a BAFTA Scotland award. Soon after, Screen International named him one of its “Stars of Tomorrow.”

David’s distinctive vision caught the attention of Channel 4, leading him to direct a 30-minute drama for their Coming Upseries, starring Russell Tovey and launching to rave reviews. He also collaborated with the BBC on a documentary about his sister, one of the most successful female racing drivers, and her journey toward becoming the first female F1 driver since the 1970s. The documentary aired on BBC Two to over 2 million viewers, winning a Royal Television Society Award and ranking as one of the top three programs on iPlayer.

David’s commercials career began with a series of television spots for Ryanair, followed by his acclaimed campaign for Mankind, #ViolenceIsViolence. This impactful online film went viral, with over 20 million views on YouTube and Facebook, winning Gold, Silver, and Bronze British Arrow Awards as well as a D&AD Pencil.

Most recently, David’s Boys Don’t Cry—the final episode in his nine-part Lynx series Men In Progress, which redefines modern masculinity—won the Grand Prix, gold, and bronze awards at the Campaign/PR Week Brand Film Awards.
